Holidays are among us, so be prepared. 11/20/22

The season of holiday and cheer often can be the hardest time as it involves gatherings with friends and family, gift-giving, cooking and baking, traveling long distances, and so much more. While this time is enjoyable for many, all of the stress from the holidays can make mental health struggles like depression and anxiety much worse. Other Studies have shows that it can have physical and mental health benefits especially if you take the time to enjoy it without the holiday hype. According to the American Psychological Association, 38% of people surveyed said their stress increased during the holiday season, reasons given: lack of time, financial pressure, gift-giving, and family gatherings.

Tools For the Holidays

  1. Self Awareness: Know your limits, before going out, it’s ok to say no if the end results leave you empty

  2. Financial: Again know your limits, don’t spend what you don’t have, be creative in your gift-giving

  3. Value time with valued friends: Your health and welth is important so spend it with those who love you for who you are, not what you have or not have, you don’t need those kind of friends

  4. Breaks from negative group activity: If it has been bad vibrations in the past, it will probaly be the same. So stay away!

  5. Sleep: Use the time to sleep in and spend with positive friends

  6. Be mindful: You don’t need things and bad people around you just to feel worst, some company is just not worth the pain

  7. Accept Imperfection: In you and others and do the things to make you a better person, you deserve and those who love you

  8. Vision: Stay focus at all cost, the holiday is just one part of your life not the whole and it will pass

  9. Generational Ghost; Don’t let the dysfuction of family’s pass control or rule the now and your future, it can stop with you

  10. If things go sideways, “Cry like Hell then Laugh Like Heaven” It’s great medicene

  11. Respond with kindness: In difficult situations try to react without upsetting yourself or more important, not blowing up.

  12. Stay Calm, Stay Calm, Stay Calm

The Holiday Season was made for you, so enjoy it without the hype.
